   I haven't tried it in a long time, but I recall having problems trying to install a Mozilla sidebar with an offline file using JavaScript. I could be mistaken but I think to install an offline file is more complicated in Mozilla than an online file and requires that the file be in the chrome directory. One thing I really found convenient with having an offline, IE-sidebar is that all you have to do is "right-click, view-source" to open up the file in notepad where its readily made available to edit. To use an online file means you have to republish the file to a webserver everytime you make changes. I really wish you could view-source in an external editor (like notepad) in Firebird/Mozilla in addition to the "pretty-print view-source" which is unalterable. Yes... I am that lazy that I'd rather not navigate to the directory folder itself that contains the actual HTML file.

   I installed the "Compact Menu" extension, which allows you to drag and drop menu item icons on to the top bar. If I click the bookmark icon, it automatically opens them up in the sidebar. I didn't check off anything, as far as I can remember. Regardless of which, Compact Menu is a really useful extension.

   I was wondering about "Compact Menus" should try it, thanks Lars. And MickeyC, "MozEX" might be what you're looking for. Two others I like, especially for developing, are "IE View" and "Javascript Console Status"
