When asked about the differences I’ve seen with the U.S. and Canada, my response has not been about the money, the accents, or the milk containers, but rather it involves the level of cultural tolerance. -

As speculated, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has bought Newsworld, the international network once owned by the CBC. Although the Mother Corp. will continue to provide the content, the purchase continues the politicalization of the American broadcast media. The Armies of the Night
Picked up Norman Mailer’s The Armies of the Night at this year’s Word on the Street, and have been quite enjoying it, though I find it strange reading his observations made while protesting the Vietnam War, even as we attack Afghanistan. For example, his definition of a “bad war”: -

Papers must push online news
During this latest U.S. election some media outlets declaring a new president even though there officially wasn’t one. To be fair, it was already 3 a.m. ET when the networks started predicting a Bush victory, and newspapers must go to print at some point. Despite being an offender, The Globe and Mail at least directed readers to its Web site for updates. Of the five Toronto papers, The Globe was the only one to prominently do so. When will they get it?
